This fault is also known as the red ring of fire, and Microsoft say it happens in about a third of all xbox systems. Some people blame this error on many things but the main reason is the system is just overheating and freezing up. You could solve the problem in the small term by trying to get the console cooled doen ASAP by making sure there is plenty of room around the console or sitting it beside an open window. This is no long term solution to a very frustrating problem.

 

The recommended best long term fix to this Red Ring Of Death fault is to have the system repaird and updated. The main solution involves trying to get a better airflow through the consoles airvents allowing the main motherboards heatsinks and CPU to cool down.

 

If you have loads of money you could send the whole console back to Microsoft for repair but please be warned you will be waiting up to 5 weeks for the return of your system, not including postage times.

 

Its been reported you may receive a refurbished console and not your own machine.
